Whenever I search for a hotel, I always make sure it's near a mall or a convenience store so that whenever we need to buy something or when someone's hungry and wanted to go out, the mall is just within walking distance to the hotel. One hotel that captured my interest is Golden Phoenix Hotel in Pasay City and my primary reason is that it's a hotel very near SM Mall of Asia.
In my previous post, I shared my experience in staying in a condo in Pasay City near Mall of Asia. This time, I wanted to stay in a hotel because I believe hotel amenities is still better than staying in a condo unit based on experience.
Choosing Golden Phoenix Hotel with my family was a good decision. Not only it was budget-friendly, but it also gave us a comfortable stay.
Here are the top 5 things I liked while staying at Golden Phoenix Hotel in Pasay City:
- Fast WIFI. This is definitely the number one necessity or should I say a requirement that my family wanted from a hotel. Unlike our experience in Century Park Hotel, Golden Phoenix Hotel offers very fast wireless internet connection and all four of us enjoyed watching videos or surfing the internet on our mobile phones with no fuss. The WIFI connection is complimentary to all hotel guests so all guests can enjoy this feature. The only downside is the connection is only limited to 4 people per room which is definitely understandable.
Fast WIFI.
My boys enjoyed the fast mobile connection provided by the hotel. - Big and Comfortable beds. We almost always choose a twin bed when booking a hotel. Sometimes, a hotel would offer two single beds and sometimes some hotels would offer two double beds. During our stay, we are grateful that have two double beds because two people slept comfortably in each bed. Their bed and linens were really soft and smelled so clean almost comparable in 5-star hotels. I guess it's safe to say that sleeping in this hotel is definitely a good idea.
- Professional and Courteous Staff. From check-in to check-out, I did not have any problem with the staff. Everyone from the bell boy, security guards, and front desk greeted us with warm smiles and all our needs were easily delivered such as extra towels, room service, etc. Good service by good people indeed. Speaking of the front desk, check-in and check-out were really fast. I booked from a third-party travel agency (Traveloka) so I thought there would be problems or delays, but everything just went surprisingly smooth and hassle-free.
- Good food. Though we didn't get the room with breakfast buffet, we did try their room service breakfast menu. They offer this all day so you can eat your breakfast anytime you want in the comfort of your room. We got 2 orders of pancakes with side dishes (sausage and ham respectively), one order of plain omelet with toast, one order of their beef tapa with rice, and one order of iced mocha. All in all, the total was around P900+. I didn't bother ordering other drinks because we've got plenty of juices and coffee in our mini bar. And if you wanted to go out to buy some food, there's a Family Mart on the ground floor at the same building. Right across the street, there's also a Mini Stop convenience store.
Golden Phoenix Hotel: Room Service Breakfast - Reasonably priced. Would you believe that we stayed for 2 nights in this hotel for P5,000+ only? Yup, we did. Upon checking the prices of their mini-bar, I was glad to know they're not that expensive compared to other hotels.

Golden Phoenix Hotel offers basic and complete hotel amenities such as bathrobes, toothbrushes, vanity kits, soap, shampoo. hair dryer, iron set, and coffee and tea facilities. The room was also quite spacious and my kids loved it. They had space to run around inside the room and play.
Swimming pool |
The hotel also has a minimalist swimming pool located on the 7th floor. Tenants or unit owners of the hotel share the same pool. We started swimming late in the afternoon and when the sun started to set, we waited for the lights to come up, but nothing was happening so we assumed there's no light in the pool probably to discourage people from swimming at night. There were no lifeguards around and no towels offered, so you have to bring your own towels.
