Places to Go in Jacksonville, Florida

Florida is one the best places to go in the United States if you're longing for beautiful beaches; scenic views; and a wonderful time with family, friends, or even yourself.

The beaches in Jacksonville are quite popular with locals. With so many beaches to choose from, some say that if you love being on the water, Jacksonville is definitely for you. Right now, I don't want to focus on the beaches. Instead, I want to focus more on the other highlights of Jacksonville. Here are some of them:

EverBank Field

Aside from the beaches, one fun fact about Jacksonville is that its EverBank Field, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL), is the only American football stadium that is known to have a swimming pool. It was amazing for me to learn that viewers can choose to enjoy the pool and watch their favorite game at the same time. I bet that makes for one awesome pool party before, during, and after Jaguars games.

Jacksonville's Museum of Science and History

Whenever I look for places to visit in Jacksonville, the city's Museum of Science and History (MOSH) is always at the top of the list. I did some research online and learned that this museum is indeed a powerhouse of science exhibits. Here, you'll find inventions, dinosaurs, a planetarium, and much more. You can also see iguanas and turtles on display. This is definitely a great place to take the kids.

River Concert and Dance Series

Since December has already started, you may want to check out Jacksonville's River Concert and Dance series on Jacksonville Landing. You can definitely feel the holiday spirit here because local folks from schools, churches, and dance groups perform with a 56-foot tall Christmas tree in the courtyard as their background. Performances take place during lunch and in the evenings throughout most of the month. The performance schedule already started on December 1 and will continue through Saturday, December 23.

The Cummer Museum

I love art. I'm not a collector or an artist, but I like looking at art, especially beautiful paintings. A stroll in an art museum gives me that feeling of relaxation and calm. If you don't like art, how about exploring the great outdoors? Sounds like a great place to take your date, eh? Well, if you like one or both, then the Cummer Museum is a lovely place to go, as it has an art museum and a gorgeous garden. The beautiful gardens and paintings will definitely take your breath away.
