Dengue is still on the rise especially this rainy season. According to Wikipedia, Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms typically begin three to fourteen days after infection. This may include a high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash.

I don’t have a health card because I’m a freelancer who
works at home, so I searched for health cards available on the net that would
suit my needs and would also suit my budget. That’s when I learned about
MyMaxicare Lite.
My Maxicare Lite |
My Maxicare Lite
My Maxicare Lite is a prepaid health card that can cover up
to Php25,000 for in-patient services only for confirmed cases of the identified
coverable diseases:
- Dengue
- Malaria
- Cholera
- Typhoid and Paratyphoid
- Gastroenteritis
- Pneumonia
- Chikungunya
- Leptospirosis
You can only use the card once within one year of registration.
I personally bought two cards of My Maxicare LITE for my two children each.
Each card costs P1,599. The price is very reasonable if you ask me. I chose the card that does not include the 6 major
hospitals (Asian Hospital, Cardinal Santos Hospital, Makati Medical Center, St.
Lukes Medical Center BGC, St. Lukes Medical Center QC, and The Medical City) because
it’s less likely that we will go to any of them - they’re all just too far. But if you
want a card that includes all 6 major hospitals, then it’s available for you to
purchase for Php2,199. This card is
accepted in all Maxicare Accredited hospitals.
Card Activation
After receiving the card, I simply followed the instructions
to register it via SMS or text. After sending the required information from me,
I got a text message confirming that Maxicare received my information and the
card will be activated after 2 weeks time.
If you still don't have a health card, I strongly advise you get one now. I really wish I wouldn’t use the cards, but if
Dengue strikes, at least we have a health card to rely on.
