Lovely Staycation: Dusit Hotel Makati Review

Last May 22, 2015, my husband and I decided to take our family on a 3D/2N family staycation in Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We chose this hotel because after doing some online research it has all the amenities that we need. A big plus is their location being just a stone's throw away from SM Makati and Ayala Malls.

Another view of one of Makati's landmarks
The gold pillars and the high ceilings make their lobby look majestic and luxurious. The staff including the security guards were really nice and accommodating.

We actually arrived early (12:30PM) so we had to wait at the lobby.
While waiting in the lobby, I noticed the fresh and relaxing scent they use to revitalize the air and it really smells wonderful.
This is the very nice Ms. Sheena Domingo who assisted me in getting my Dusit Wine & Dine membership.

You can also get one for P7,800 valid for one year. You can check out Dusit Thani's website for the vast list of benefits you can get which includes a complimentary overnight stay in a Deluxe Room which we immediately used for our first night.

My Wine & Dine membership kit looks like a box of chocolate :D Very nice touch.
*If the membership fee is too pricey for you (and it actually is), you can also opt to sign up for free as a  Dusit Gold member in their website. One of the perks I have seen first hand is they have an express lane for Dusit Gold Members in the reception area which brings convenience to its members to avoid the long lines of checking in or out.

Ms. Ong assisted with my check-in process. Since I am a Wine & Dine member, I was asked if I was willing to add P2,500 on top of my free night to avail the Club Deluxe Twin Room which includes buffet breakfast for 2, unlimited access to the Club Lounge inclusive of an all-day complimentary snacks & drinks (sodas, juice, coffee, tea), and complimentary cocktails from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.We took the deal so we could go to our room at an early check in of 1:30PM. As for the 2nd day, we booked the Weekend Prince and Princess package at P6,743 net per night which I got for P6,060 as a member.

Checking in at hotels requires a deposit fee and Dusit requires P4,000 deposit per room per night, but since we presented her with a debit card, she told us that we could opt for cash payment that doesn't require a deposit fee, but they will take out the contents of the mini bar which is absolutely fine by us.

Our Twin Club Deluxe Room
*Once we got into our room,  our phones were automatically connected to their fast WIFI.
*I noticed their clean carpets which is a major plus for me unlike at some hotels when we go barefoot at their carpets, our feet becomes black.
*The bed is firm and comfortable to sleep in. Pillows are soft and cozy. Linens smell fresh and clean.

My son is very happy with his free plush toy!
Kids can get one free plush toy each when you book the Weekend Prince and Princess package! :)

Hey, kids. What are you looking at?

The view from our room
Of course, after looking at the window, what next? Jumping up and down on the bed!

I guess waiting for 10 seconds for the camera to take a picture of us was too long. :D

The Bathroom

All is clean and complete with bathroom amenities. I hope they would consider putting a separate hose near the toilet next time so we could wash ourselves after using the toilet.

The Dusit Club Lounge
This is the 16th floor, the highest floor that the elevator can take you so you will need to go to another elevator or use the stairs (in the pic) to reach the 17th floor
Very cool and relaxing lounge even when the sun is high up. This is a great place to  meet someone either for business of leisure. The hotel staff were also very accommodating.
Since I was carrying my little girl, I was having a hard time getting some food on my plate and one of their staff (Sorry! I forgot your name! ) noticed it and he was so gracious enough to help me. He asked for the food that I liked and he was the one who got them for me and served them on my table. He was so nice! ^_^

Assorted fresh and yummy sandwiches

Delicious chocolate drink!

My children really love the view

This is the view from the club lounge
Outside the lounge at the back is their veranda or their smoking area. No one's there at the time because the summer sun is really hot.

We went to check out their mini library.

The mini library: It was actually a small air conditioned, Thai-themed room that can accommodate only a few people. They have lovely blue chairs and quite a few books to read on. It was like a little oasis for booklovers.

After this, we went back to our room.

We went for a stroll at the mall and ate dinner at North Park. My son bought some toys from Toy Kingdom at SM Makati which is just across the road from Dusit. After we bought him toys, my son insisted we go back to our hotel room.

I also went back to Dusit Lounge and had coffee and some cocktail snacks so I can utilize my Club member for a day.

Club Lounge at Night
The club lounge was transformed into an intimate venue. There's an area where lights are bright and a specific area where only candles lit up your table. I actually chose the latter because it looked romantic. The sad part is I was the only one eating in this place because my family was already tired.

Buffet Breakfast
Mornings are best if you start it with a buffet!
Check out my separate blog post about Breakfast Buffet at Basix by click this link.

If you availed the room only rate or you're just too lazy to get up in the morning, you can opt to have room service breakfast to maximize your staycation. You just have to fill up this form and leave it out the door before 3AM.

Swimming Time
(Swimming Pool - 2nd floor)

I really love the blue tiles used in the swimming pool. The water looks so inviting thanks to it.

Yey! We all swam in the kiddie pool. We stayed here for 2 hours and then we went back to our hotel to rest. You can actually bring your own inflatables here. Unfortunately, we forgot to bring ours.

Dusit Lounge at the Mezzanine Floor
We went to the Dusit Lounge to avail my son's free ice cream as included in the Weekend Prince and Princess package. Too bad my little girl was asleep at this time so she wasn't able to claim hers.

My son waiting for his ice cream.

Free ice cream!

Gone in 60 seconds!

The lounge is very spacious. I really enjoyed walking around this place.

Cigars on display. I remember my great-grandmother when I saw this because she just loved cigars.

The Last Moments Before Checking Out

Last coffee drink an hour before our late check out at 2PM

Last bathtub moments

Checking out. I was standing for about 5 minutes.

That's all, folks! Wow, as I'm writing this blog post, the Dusit experience still stays with me. It was such a rejuvenating staycation. Even my kids want to go back for more. But sadly, as the saying goes, "All good things has an end," or should I say #walangforever. :D

Though some folks are bothered by the renovations going on, but we didn't mind at all because the noise was very minimal. I'm actually looking forward and quite excited to see the renovated rooms in the future.

So when you stay here and you have kids, I do recommend getting the "Weekend Prince and Princess" promo so your kids could have some freebies. Apparently, it's the cheapest room rate they have so you really don't need to think twice.

We love you, Dusit Thani! We hope to see you again soon.
