Amber's Pichi-Pichi with Honey Roasted Nuts

There's no question that Amber's pichi-pichi with cheese is very delicious and very reasonably priced.  They're perfect for merienda and desserts for everyone!

Note: pichi-pichi is a gelatinous dessert made with cassava, water and sugar. Its texture is very similar to palitaw.

Pichi-Pichi with cheese. Yummy!
40 pieces for P200. Additional P50 delivery charge.

Pichi-Pichi with Honey Roasted Nuts. 20 pieces for P100.
Nothing special. The nuts were melted and tasted like peanut butter. I still prefer the pichi-pichi with cheese.

I'm glad that Amber's opened a branch here in Paranaque because I used to pay P150 delivery charge whenever we order from their Muntinlupa branch. I'd like to thank The Wandering Boots blog for giving me information about Amber's Pranaque branch.

Ms. Polly's Carrot Cake

My sister's birthday was held last Saturday and one of her favorite cakes is a carrot cake. I've looked for carrot cakes around. Red Ribbon and Goldilocks have already phased out their carrot cakes. There are restaurants offering carrot cakes, but they're a bit pricey. Their whole cakes ranges from Php700 to Php900 for a 7 or 8 inch carrot cake. So I searched even further and I found out about Ms. Polly's carrot cake which costs only P490 for a whole 8-inch cake. I've also been hearing some good reviews from different blogs about it so I thought it's worth to try.

Yes, their chocolate cake is award-winning :)

Carrot Cake: P490 - very reasonably priced!
I've added a few edible candy flower decorations on the cake for an additional fee of P35.

8-inch round carrot cake. Cream cheese on top sprinkled with cinnamon, but I think they've added lemon on the cream cheese because it has a citrus-like flavor in it.

The cake itself is quite moist and chewy with plenty of carrot bits. The cream cheese topping really goes well with it. I really hated carrot cakes, but this cake really changed my opinion on them.

Unfortunately, my sister didn't like the cream cheese topping. She liked the cake itself, though. She said she still prefers the carrot cake in Figaro even more. *sigh*

Spam Slammer Lunch

I was going around Pergolla Mall in BF Homes looking for a place where I could find a reasonably priced lunch. My budget was only P60.  Jollibee is out of the question because I'm so fed up eating there. I guess I was looking for something different... and this is what I found:

At the second floor of the mall, I found this food stand called Spam Slammer.
Spam Slammer basically serves Spam sandwiches,Spam with rice and more. In case you don't know what Spam is, Spam is like a canned luncheon meat, but better and more expensive. It is a canned precooked meat product made by Hormel Foods Corporation. You can see these Spam canned goods everywhere in grocery stores and supermarkets nationwide ranging from the price of P95 to P150 depending on the flavor.

 Their menu.

I ordered Spam with egg sandwich (P30) and sago gulaman (P5) at the Siomai stand right beside Spam Slammer. The sandwich was really good. It sort of reminded me of my high school days.

Out of curiosity, I also ordered Spam Musubi (P25). It's simply made up of rice (I was hoping it was Japanese rice, but it's wasn't) and 1 slice of Spam partially wrapped together with nori (seaweed). It was so-so.  I should have ordered the one with egg.

All in all, it was decent meal. I seldom eat Spam at home because, like i said, it's quite expensive. For 99 pesos, I can already buy 8 cans of sardines or 5 CDO SeaQuest Tuna (my favorite). But to satisfy my Spam cravings without the guilt ( for my budget ), Spam Slammer is the best place to go.

Cielin's Cake House: A Goldmine of Good Cakes & Cupcakes

After bringing my son to school, I walked going to Robinson's Supermarket to claim my order of empanada that I bought from Ensogo. They were good actually. But this blog is not about those empanadas, but about a good cake house I found while going to my destination and its name is Cielin's Cake House! Apparently, they've been around for a long time. But since we don't always go to that area of BF Homes, we never got a chance to taste their pastries...until NOW.

Classic Savory in Festival Mall

I think I have already posted 2 blogs about Classic Savory restaurant, but this post is about Savory's branch in Festival Mall, Alabang. We always dine here whenever we go to Festival Mall because their fried chicken is my hubby's favorite and they always serve freshly cooked food.

A compilation of old Filipino movie posters.

The venue is not that big, but not too small either. Capacity is around 50 to 75 people.

 Their refreshing coolers.

We always order this combo meal. This combo includes 2 cups of rice, their award-winning pancit canton, half Savory fried chicken, sweet & sour pork , 2 pcs of turon (dessert), and 2 coolers.
(Php385 - good for 2 people)

No fried chicken is complete without the gravy!

Their restaurant is located at the ground floor of Festival Mall near Greenwich and Chowking. You will see waiters and waitresses waiting outside to accommodate people.  Friendly staff, good food and good service!

Cara Mia's Mango Sans Rival

Yesterday was Father's Day and since my hubby doesn't like chocolate cakes nor cheesecakes, I decided to buy Cara Mia's Mango Sans Rival gelato cake since Sans Rival is his all-time favorite cake.

The Mango Sans Rival Gelato cake is made up of meringue wafer alternately layered with mango and sans rival gelato with sliced mangoes and chocolate curls on top. I wasn't able to capture the chocolate curls because my son ate them right away.

Sad to say, my husband did not like this cake because it was too sweet for him and I agree. The meringue wafers were not crunchy and the mangoes tasted like ice. It was also a hassle for us to take it home because the allotted travel time is 1 hour before the cake melts. I should have bought a Tiramisu or a real sans rival cake instead.

Whole Cake: P600
Slice: P95
