Delectable Cakes from Mrs Pepper's in BF Homes

I was looking for a special chocolate cake online for my sister's 39th birthday last October. I came across all the typical chocolate and birthday cakes online until I was lucky enough to find a certain Ferrero Cake from Google. Ferrero chocolates is my sister's favorite so I thought buying her a Ferrero cake would be a great idea. I was so happy to know that it's available in Mrs. Pepper's Bakery located inside BF Homes, Paranaque - just a tricycle ride away from our home!

Brownies Unlimited: My Favorite Brownies of All Time

When in doubt of what dessert to buy, you can never go wrong with Brownies Unlimited's luscious brownies and pastries! I just love how chewy and chocolatey their brownies are. No wonder they're still around after all these years.

I just want to buy them all!
I'm drooling again after seeing this pic.
These fudge cakes are really good. They're like big brownies molded into a cake, but with more chocolate. :) It's also perfect for mini birthday celebrations. This would definitely be a great treat to all peeps with a sweet tooth.

These pictures were taken from Brownies Unlimited in SM BF Paranaque. :)

My Lost Pictures of The Bread Story (SM Southmall)

I was browsing through my old pictures in my camera and then suddenly I found the pictures that I took from Bread Story! Well, even though it's been months since I took these, I decided to post them here in case you'd like to browse through them. I do apologize for the quality of the images because I was using an old camera phone while taking these. My visit was actually unexpected.

These are the breads I ordered at that time. They were just so-so.
Oh, I remember that blueberry danish in that picture. I've had heart palpitations after eating it most probably because of the butter they used. My heart couldn't take the amount of cholesterol it has I guess.

Do visit their Facebook page for more updated pictures and prices of their products :)

Tous Les Jour's Strawberry Tiramisu

My sister and I have been craving for some Tiramisu cake and we decided to taste one of Tous Les Jour's Tiramisu cakes in strawberry flavor so here it is:

The moment I opened the box, I can already smell the strong strawberry scent coming from the strawberry powder that's placed on top of the cake as you can see in this picture.

7 inches only :(

Strawberry cream layered with strawberry chiffon topped with a thin layer of whip cream and strawberry powder. This is more of a strawberry cream cake than a Tiramisu. Well, it is indeed called a strawberry Tiramisu after all.

The strawberry cream and strawberry chiffon go well together and the cake was not that sweet actually. I really hated their strawberry powder so I scraped that off while eating a slice.  It's very similar to the Fresh Cream Cake that they're selling, but this one has strawberry flavors everywhere.  I did like the cake (without the powder) because I was able to eat a big slice, but I wouldn't probably buy it again. If I were craving for a strawberry cake, I would buy their Fresh Strawberry Cream Cake or Yulo's strawberry shortcake. And since we were craving for a Tiramisu cake, we should've just bought the old-fashioned Tiramisu cake elsewhere.

3 stars out of 5 overall

Dunkin Donuts' Dunka Boodle

Dunkin Donut's will always have a special place in my heart because it's the first donut restaurant we had in Batangas City that we always go to when I was still in Kindergarten. Over the years, they still managed to stay around even though competition is tight nowadays. But for an average Pinoy like me, I still believe Dunkin Donuts is still the "Pasalubong ng Bayan" because of their reasonably priced donuts that kids and kids at heart love.

For moms like me, I sometimes struggle what to buy in their store whether its donuts or Munchkins because my kids love them both so sometimes, I buy two boxes - one for donuts and one for Munchkins which is sometimes costly for me already. So that's why I'm glad they came up with their new box, the Dunkin Donut's Dunka Boodle! One box consists of 6 classic donuts and 20 Munchkins. All for P199 only.

Premium donuts for P33-35 each.

Short Cake Review: Mango Chantily Cake by Goldilocks

I like this Mango Chantily cake. It has a fair amount of mango bits and cream, and it has mango marshmallows. I like this cake better than butter cream cakes.Best of all, the price for the whole cake is only P390!  Yup, I could have bought that greeting cake from Red Ribbon worth P299, but this mango cake looks a bit more festive and special.

Tous Les Jours' Monster Cake

Last October 31, I was having a hard time deciding where to buy the perfect Halloween cake for my family. There were plenty of choices actually. Fortune, Goldilocks, Tous Les Jours, etc. In the end, I chose Tous Les Jours because of the name and because I had a voucher from Deal Grocer :P

Tous Les Jours' Blue Monster Cake -
Chocolate chiffon covered in buttercream
When I first saw the cake, my first reaction was, "Hmm...it's a bit small." I placed a ruler on top of it and it only measures almost 7 inches.

Chocolate chiffon with choco filling.
The inside is very similar to their bear cake which was quite disappointing for me.

The taste was so-so. Nothing much to brag about - only the design. I told myself not never to buy any cakes with butter cream icing on them.

What really made me sad was their price of P698! It's sooo expensive! At this price, I should have bought a 12x12 chocolate cake from Goldilocks or a regular sized Black Forest from Red Ribbon or better yet, a Mango Bravo from Contis'! *sigh* Sorry, Tous Les Jours. I love your store and I love your bread and pastries, but for this particular cake, it's a thumbs down for me.

Tous Les Jour's Chocolate Waffle

Okay, before we go trick or treating this afternoon in our village, I decided to blog about this chocolate waffle from Tous les Jours that I'm currently eating. It's sooo good! I was expecting the waffle to be the typical soft bread waffle, but it's not! The whole waffle is sugar glazed which made it a wee bit crunchy on the outside and then soft and yummy on the inside. The delicious chocolate filling made it even better!

Yup, I do believe they truly sell authentic and fresh breads everyday. This waffle really made my day.

For P48 pesos only, you can enjoy a delicious and authentic 5-inch waffle only from Tous les Jours!

Mary Grace's Chocolate Cake and Tous Les Jours' Cutie Bear Cake

Yesterday was my son's 6th birthday and he got 2 cakes sponsored by his aunt Cheryl. She got a Mary Grace chocolate cake and a cutie bear cake from Tous Les Jour.

Mary Grace Moist Chocolate Cake (P635)
The colored sprinkles (P15) and the Ninjago cake toppings (P75) were bought from a local baking supplies near our area. As for the rest of the decor, I think she bought it from Mary Grace store.
A moist chocolate cake covered in chocolate frosting and layered in between with a creamy custard filling. The custard filling actually made the cake taste good. It is indeed quite moist and it's not too sweet.
Tous Les Jours' Cutie Bear Cake (P498)
Quite a small-sized cake approximately around 6 or 7 inches in diameter.  The "Happy Birthday" candles were bought from Daiso store (88-peso store).
It tasted good, but not that moist. If you want a moist choco cake, then I'm sure Red Ribbon or Goldilocks' chocolate dedication cakes are sure winners for the same or lesser price.
Happy 6th birthday, anak!

After letting the cakes stay in the fridge overnight, I checked both cakes and I appreciated Mary Grace's cake even more. I can taste the chocolate better and it's still quite moist:

We can actually see the difference of the two cakes and it's quite obvious which one is more chocolatey :)
The Tous Les Jours Cutie Bear cake already tasted a bit dry while the Mary Grace cake still maintained its moistness and rich chocolatey flavor.

Churros City

A churro is a fried dough pastry that is best dipped with  rich thick chocolate.

Churros has been one of my favorite snacks since childhood. Ever since I'd tasted Dulcinea's churros in Megamall more than 20 years ago, I have always craved for it.

Then I saw Churros City in Pergola Mall. I bought some, tasted some and I thought Dulcinea's churros still remains undefeated in terms of quality and taste. But Churros City is cheaper and it's close to our house so if I'm craving for some churros, Churros City can somehow satisfy my craving for it. Besides, their chocolate dip did compensate the whole experience.

P35 only for one order inclusive of dip.

I've tasted their Double Dutch, but sad to say, all I can taste was ice and tiny bit of chocolate flavor and cream.

Conti's Dulce Cheesecake

Tired of the usual caramel-flavored cakes? Why not try Dulce cheesecake from Conti's. My sister bought one yesterday to savor the weekend and she did choose the right cake! It's very delicious and they did a good job in combining the flavors of caramel and cheesecake. You wouldn't go wrong with this one.

Php595 for the whole cake.
