The Great Escapes Travel Fair

Yesterday, I was invited to see the ribbon-cutting of the Great Escapes Travel Fair in Glorietta, Makati. About 20 travel agencies and hotels participated in this event together with some food booths. It was a nice experience because unlike major travel expos, I wasn't overwhelmed with the number of booths. I went around feeling relaxed and simply asked questions with what the booths had to offer.

Summer Time is Playcation Time!

Summer Time is Playcation Time!

Johnson's shares how longer active play enhances a child's overall development

It's summer time once again and this only means one thing for kids - more playtime! Moms might be hesitant to prolong their kids playing outdoors due to sweat and malodor, but this summer, these can be the least of mom's worries as Johnson's invites moms (even dads!) and kids to go out, be more active, and bond over their very own playcation!

"It is true - hindi lang laro ang laro. Johnson's is a believer of playtime because of the multiple benefits it gives kids. More playtime has been proven to contribute to the overall development of kids as they become more resilient, socially intelligent, confident, and physically strong," shared Bessie Campillo Johson's Franchise Marketing Manager. "As a way for us to demonstrate our support for playtime, we are launching the Johnson's Active Kids Playcation campaign - encouraging parents to spend more time with their kids through active playtime."

Johnson's places a focus on active play to ignite their imagination, develop their social skills and process emotions, and become more resilient and confident because of the strong bond they develop with their parents during playtime.

As an avenue for more imaginative play , Johnson's has built an Active Kids Playcation playground equipped to further imaginative and active play among kids. The Johnson's Active Kids Playcation playground consists of different play pods such as:

Imagine & Seek where children use their imagination and thinking skills to replicate an image using just rubber mats;

Fireball Away challenges a child's balance, agility, and cognitive skills by dodging "fireballs" to get to the other end of the platform without falling;

Dragon Maze fuels a child's sense of motivation to win by collecting all hidden items within a specific amount of time;

Little Builder's City encourages the use of imagination and creativity by allowing children to design and build their own fortresses.

"It is important that we create safe spaces that will encourage children to play and use their imagination. By ensuring that they have this opportunity, experiencing the optimum benefits of play is just at their arms's reach," shared Michael Santiago of Philippine Toy Library, a non-profit organization that transforms idle spaces in communities into fun and educational play areas for the benefit of children who they consider as the reason why they exist.

There's no doubt about the benefits imaginative play can give to a chid's optimum development. That's why parents play an important part during this phase in their child's growth. The parents' role highly affects how the child perceives play so it's crucial for them to provide children with the necessary props to aid in their imaginative play, plus it's a great bonding experience!

Make playtime more enjoyable and worry-free for parents with the Johnson's Baby Active Fresh and Shiny Drops products. Keep your kids smelling fresh despite the summer sweat with the Johnson's Active Fresh Shampoo and Johnson's Baby Active Fresh Bath. Meanwhile, girls can keep their hair shiny as ever despite the heat of the sun with the Johnson's Baby Shiny Drops Shampoo and Conditioner.

Again, don't keep play at bay this summer! It's time for more playcation! Visit www.facebook.com/JohnsonsBabyPhilippines to know more updates on Johnson's take on play.

Johnson's Playcation Time is until tomorrow only (May 20) at SM Southmall, Admission is FREE.

#NationalSuperMomsDay at SM BF Paranaque: My DIY Cake in a Jar Making Experience

This afternoon, I was invited to join the SM BF Paranaque's DIY Cake in a Jar event, a special tribute to mothers this mother's day. Cakes in a jar have been popular for quite some time now and I often see them being sold in bazaars. I have always been curious on how to make one of those so I decided to put the mystery to rest and learn how to do it by attending the tutorial.

It’s actually my very first time to attend an event like this so I was a bit nervous and excited at the same time. I was told I could bring my child with me so I brought my 4-year-old daughter.

All the materials and ingredients needed were already laid out on the table as we sat down. There were two jars in different sizes, plastic spoons, whipped cream, rice crispies, crushed Grahams, edible heart toppers.

Chef Jae Bermudez from Fluffy Bakes as the speaker
The instructions of Chef Jae were simple as 1-2-3. First, put 2-3 teaspoons of graham powder inside the jar as its base. Second, put just enough whipped cream, then the rice crispies, then the heart toppers. We were also given choco chips and choco syrup as additional toppings.  Lastly, place the white circular paper on top of the jar and then seal the jar with the cover. That's it! Simple, right?

Me and my daughter
Although the instructions were simple, some of us have other methods in mind :D My daughter insisted on mixing the graham and the whipped cream first. Well, who am I stop her from making her own version of cake in a jar :D In the end, it still tastes delicious.

Yup. She ate her work even before she finished. Ha ha! That's how good it was and it shows how she's really enjoying what she's doing. We're making a mess, but we're loving what we're doing. I'm really glad I brought her to this event.

This is my unfinished cake in a jar.

And these are the finished products!

These are the finished products (with serving spoons)!
These cakes in a jar are really easy to make and they would make great gifts or giveaways. A fellow mom even voiced out that it's a great activity for kiddie parties, which I also agree.

So that summarizes our DIY Cake in a Jar event experience. Thank you, SM BF, for the invitation and making my Mother's Day a unique, fun, and educational one. Plus, my little one enjoyed it, too. It was a great bonding experience for us.I hope you make more events like this in the future.

There are still lots of events coming your way this Mother's Day at the SM BF Paranaque. Check out the poster below for the schedule:

Christening Event in Gloria Maris Eastwood Branch

Last Saturday, we got invited to a Christening event by one of my husband's friends. My dear hubby was made the godfather or "ninong" of the child.  Traveling from Paranaque to Christ the King Church in Ortigas was worth it because it's really delightful to see little ones being baptized and becoming members of the Catholic Church.

After the Christening, we went to Gloria Maris in the Eastwood Mall branch where the reception was held. I have been to Gloria Maris in Alabang before, but I was a bit surprised how simple but elegant the Eastwood branch is.

As we entered the restaurant, the kids got distracted right away by the huge aquariums filled with shrimps, fish, and crabs.

Our First Halloween Party Experience at the Bellevue Hotel 2016

I don't remember how long I have been wondering about what it's like to attend a Halloween party inside 5-star hotels because their tickets are very expensive. They range from Php800 and up - each! That's why when we got 2 tickets for Bellevue Hotel's Monster Misfit Halloween Party this year for free, I was so excited!

October 29 came and we arrived at the hotel at 1PM. Registration is required and it was such a delight that we were instantly given freebies after registering (2 bottles of Nature's Spring Iced tea and 2 pieces of granola bars).

Our so-called passports for the event. The rewards card has one purpose: We have to visit all their sponsors' booths and get our card stamped before we can get our loot bags.

Here are a few pictures before we were allowed to enter inside the grand ballroom:

Free milk samples from Arla. I loved both flavors of chocolate and strawberry milks!

Inside the Grand Ballroom:

I was breathless when we entered the grand ballroom. Every kid would be in awe just seeing those beautiful and extravagant balloon decors. Oh, and we didn't have to worry on where to sit because the number on our tickets are our designated seat numbers.

Our table (with free candies)
The invitation says the party starts at 1PM, but the program starts at 2PM so we have a lot of time to spare and to explore the place. It's also a good time to get those stamps completed before the program starts.

Candy Buffet!!!
We're required to come here and get our candies so we can get our loot bags at the end of the event.
Another candy buffet sponsored by Jack TV and 2nd Avenue.
Again, we're required to visit their booth and get their treats so we can get our loot bags which I really don't mind doing.
Inflatable slide and playhouses for the kids! Yup, this is included in our rewards card that we need to visit. My little one really enjoyed the place. The kids can stay here if they want until the event ends.

When my little one got tired, I took the chance to take her to the mini parlor so they can fix her hair. She was eating marshmallows so she's behaved the entire time they were doing her hair.
Here are some pictures of the snack buffet. The snack buffet opened while we were at the mini parlor. When we got back inside, believe it or not, all the cupcakes were g-o-n-e! I was mortified. What I was able to eat was a rainbow doughnut and some candies plus an iced tea. I wasn't able to wait for the cupcakes to be replenished because we needed to leave early due to a trick or treating event (that our village sponsored) that we needed to attend to. (huhu *cries in the corner*):

There are still lots of food that I wasn't able to take a picture of like their pasta, chicken, other food viands and other desserts. They also offer unlimited ice cream for everyone. (*cries again in the corner*)

Since we had to leave by 2:30, we weren't able to participate in the program. We already completed our stamps so I thought we could already get our loot bags. When I went outside, the person-in-charge was actually reluctant to give us our loot bags because they were meant to be given after the event. But I explained to them my dilemma and, in the end, they allowed me to go, but the loot bags were placed inside a paper bag so the other guests won't notice.

So we got home and I decided to take a quick picture of what we got:

These are the freebies we got from the booths (dinosaur and tumbler not included).

This is what's inside our loot bag!
The blue circle in the middle is actually an Avent breastmilk storage cup.
Okay, now that I've attended a Halloween party from an extravagant hotel, is it worth it to buy a ticket next year?

Each ticket is worth P990 nettt each person. If you were to leave early like we did, it's definitely not worth it. But if I had stayed at the very end of the party, enjoyed the buffet, and my kid actively participated in games then it might be a different story. We could have gotten lots of prizes. Bellevue Hotel is also quite generous in giving out prizes - even consolation prizes. They also had a costume contest for the kids where the winners may get Php1,000 worth Timezone cards and overnight gift certificates for Bellevue Hotel, Bohol. *sigh*

Another thing I want to give credit to Bellevue Hotel is their tight security. Guards are always watching the entrance/exit of the venue so no kid can exit without an adult. Good job, Bellevue!

Fun-Filled Vita Cubes 2 Good Fun Day at BGC plus a Giveaway!

Last October 22, my child and I were excited to go to "Vita Cubes 2 Good Fun Day" in Active Fun the Fort in Bonifacio Global City. My son actually had his last day of exams that morning so I thought it would be a good idea for him to relax and have fun in the afternoon by joining the event. It's also our very first time to attend a gathering organized by Mommy Bloggers Philippines.
